Help Guide

Or view our quick video tutorial here.

There are a few simple steps to creating your video idea. For first-timers it may be a bit confusing, so we have put together this helpful guide to getting you started!

Here's what this campaign guide covers:

Getting Started

To create your first idea you can select 'CREATE IDEA' from the top menu or from your profile page.

The first (and most important) step of creating your idea is to name it - this can be anything up to 60 characters. Once you have named it click next.

Basics

The Basics stage of idea creation is where your basic video idea details are set.

At the top you will see 'Title' and 'Choose a Creator' boxes. You can make any changes to your title here if needed - the YouTuber box will be auto-filled with your name.

Next, you can set the category of your video idea. Then, add a short description of your idea. This is where you describe what you want to do and how you want to do it - you can also ask questions to your subscribers if you want to!

Preview

The Preview stage of idea creation is where you can double check your idea title and description.

If you need to make a change then simply click the basics tab on the top left. If everything looks good then click 'Submit Idea'.

Here's what this campaign guide covers:

Getting Started

The first step of creating a video idea campaign is to name it - this can be anything up to 60 characters.

Basics

The Basics stage of campaign creation is where your basic video idea campaign details and goals are set.

Begin by uploading an appropriate image relevant to your video idea, this will be shown as your projects main image and thumbnail.

Next, you can confirm or edit the title you set. Then, if you would like to add a video to your campaign, paste the link in the video section. This can be any unlisted or public video from your YouTube channel explaining the idea you have or that shows the type of content you create.

Then, add a short blurb that briefly outlines your video idea of 150 characters or less. This will show in your campaign preview on your profile page. In the category section you can select one or more of the available categories that are relevant to your campaign.

The description stage is where you describe your video idea. Use this space to encourage fans to donate by describing how amazing your video idea is. Talk about what you plan to do and how you plan to do it and include anything you think is relevant to your video idea. You can also ask questions to your subscribers if needed - they can respond or leave other feedback in the comments section of your campaign.

Details

Your next step will be to set your funding mode. Funding modes can be 'All or Nothing' or 'Keep it All'. You can find out more about what each mode means on on our 'Fundraising Modes' page of our help guide.

Next, you can set the amount of funds you need to successfully bring your idea to life. If you have chosen the 'Keep it All' funding mode then you will be able to keep whatever you raise even if your goal is not met. With 'All or Nothing' you will only get paid if your goal is reached or exceeded - if it is not then backer cards will not be charged.

Finally, the campaign funding duration step is where you can set the duration your campaign will be active for. Once your set end date is reached your campaign will close and all the funds raised will be collected and transferred to your connected bank account. Campaigns can be a maximum length of 14 days and a minimum of 1 day. If you would like to run a campaign for a longer duration then you can request an extension here.

Funding

The funding stage allows you to connect your bank account and receive the funds you raise from successful campaigns in a fast, safe and secure way through Stripe.

To connect your bank account through Stripe for the first time begin by creating a campaign. On the third step called 'Funding' you can connect it. To do this simply click the 'Connect with Stripe' button as seen above You will then be redirected to Stripe to safely and securely connect your bank account that the funds you raise will be paid out to.

Once you have connected your bank account through Stripe you will be redirected to your campaign to complete it's remaining steps. For future campaigns your connected bank account will be linked automatically with Stripe.

Connecting a Stripe account:

Stripe Express accounts allow you to connect your bank account and receive the funds you raise from successful campaigns in a fast, safe and secure way. Your bank account is connected during the setup of your first campaign.

Fundraising Modes:

When you run a campaign there are two different fundrasing modes you can select. They can either be 'All or Nothing,' where you set a goal and only get paid once the goal is reached, or they can be 'Keep it All,' where you get everything you raise.

All or Nothing

AoN (All or Nothing) is the fixed fundraising mode in which you keep the funds only if the target goals are met within the campaign time frame (i.e. if your goal is $10,000, you will only receive the funds if you reach or exceed $10k). With this mode, pledges are only charged after the campaign if it is successful.

Keep it All

KiA (Keep it All) is the more flexible fundraising mode which lets you keep the money you raise no matter how much or how little is reached. You do still set a target goal for this mode as a 'target', but your campaign will be successful regardless of whether you reach that goal or not.

Project Status:

After launching a campaign there are various project status labels that help you keep track of what's going on. To find the current status of any live campaign, navigate to the Campaigns page in your menu.

Your campaigns page allows you to keep track of all your live and closed campaigns. You can view the project status of any campaign in the top right of it's display box (as seen below).

There are many different project status' which could cause some confusion for newcomers. As such, we have compiled a list below of the various campaign status updates you might see and what they mean. If you need any help feel free to contact us through the form at the bottom right of our website.
